Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are
AfriSwiss ("we", "us") operates this website through Ghana-Swiss Youth Bridge, its first program, connecting young people between Ghana and Switzerland. This policy explains what personal data we collect through this site, why, and what rights you have over it.
2. What We Collect
Contact form ("Cross the Bridge"): your first name, last name, email address, location, areas of interest, and message.
Newsletter signup: your email address and site language.
Podcast "notify me" signup: your email address.
"Reconnecting with Ghana" questionnaire: this is the most detailed form on the site, and it can include sensitive information — your full name, date of birth, contact details, country and canton of residence, nationality, heritage description, Ghana passport status, education or career status, and details about your travel interests and preferences. We ask for your explicit consent before this form is submitted.
We do not use cookies, analytics trackers, or advertising pixels on this site. The only thing we store in your browser is a small marker that remembers whether you've already seen the "Reconnecting with Ghana" popup, so we don't show it to you twice.
3. How We Use It
Contact form and questionnaire submissions are reviewed by our staff to respond to you and, where relevant, to help us understand our community and plan programs.
Newsletter and podcast signups are used to send you updates you've asked for; you can unsubscribe at any time.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
4. Where It's Stored and Who Processes It
Your data is stored in a database and managed through our content management system, hosted on infrastructure provided by Vercel (hosting), Neon (database), and Brevo (email delivery). These providers process data on our behalf and may store it outside Switzerland or Ghana; where that happens, we rely on the safeguards those providers offer for international data transfers.
5. Who Can See It
Only authorized staff with a login to our admin system can access submissions, and access is limited by role — most staff can view submissions relevant to their work, and only administrators can delete records.
6. How Long We Keep It
We keep your data for as long as it's needed for the purpose you gave it to us, or until you ask us to delete it. We don't currently have an automatic deletion schedule in place — if you'd like your data removed sooner, contact us (below) and we will act on that request.
7. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, object to how we use it, or ask for a copy of it. To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@afriswiss.org. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority — in Switzerland, that's the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC).
8. Children
This site is not intended for children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data without appropriate consent, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as our practices or the law changes. We'll update the "last updated" date above when we do.
